Filoteig, gefüllt mit gehackten Walnüssen, Mandeln oder Pistazien. Es wird roh in diverse Formen geschnitten oder einzeln gefaltet zusammengelegt, gebacken und solange es noch heiß ist, in Sirup aus eingekochtem Zuckerwasser eingelegt und zum Abkühlen ruhen gelassen. Klassischer Begleiter eines Baklava-Desserts ist starker, schwarzer Mokka, da seine Bitterkeit mit der Süße des Baklava kontrastiert. Dazu wird oft Speiseeis oder Kaymak gereicht.
