Der Begriff wird auch in der Gesamtheit aller Bereitschaftspolizeiverbände verwendet. Einzig die Polizei beim Deutschen Bundestag und das Bundeskriminalamt unterhalten keine Bepo. Es stehen rund 16.000 Polizisten zur Verfügung.
