Mit Hilfe von Dauerlinien werden die Unter- beziehungsweise Überschreitungshäufigkeiten der Messwerte in einem bestimmten Zeitraum beschrieben. Eine Dauerlinie entsteht durch Sortierung der Messwerte ihrer Größe nach, meist beginnend mit dem kleinsten Wert, wobei die Abszisse die Zeitachse darstellt.
