Das Karakul oder Karakulschaf ist eine Steppenschafrasse, die ursprünglich in Usbekistan beheimatet war. Neben Russland und Afghanistan ist heute auch Namibia eines der Hauptzuchtländer dieser Schafe. Regional genutzt wird vor allem das Fleisch, das Fell, die Wolle und das Schwanzfett. Bedeutung für den internationalen Handel hat das Karakulschaf, weil das Fell des jungen Lamms als Persianer vermarktet und nachgefragt wird.
