Unter dem Begriff Leberkrebs werden die bösartigen Tumoren der Leber zusammengefasst. Bei den primären Lebertumoren, die vom Gewebe der Leber ausgehen, wird zwischen dem Leberzellkarzinom und dem Gallengangskarzinom unterschieden. Den Großteil der bösartigen Neubildungen der Leber stellen jedoch sekundäre Lebermetastasen von Malignomen anderer Organe dar. Der Begriff Hepatom fasst die primären Neubildungen der Leber zusammen, wozu neben den malignen jedoch auch die gutartigen Adenome der Leber gehören.
