Leichtbier ist Bier, das aufgrund eines besonderen Herstellungsprozesses weniger Alkohol als herkömmliches Bier enthält. Im Vergleich zu Vollbier ist der Alkoholgehalt um etwa ein Drittel reduziert , gleichzeitig ist der Gehalt an Kohlenhydraten, meistens auch an Stammwürze geringer. Der physiologische Brennwert von Leichtbier ist daher geringer als der von Vollbier. Das historische Dünnbier hat ähnliche Eigenschaften wie Leichtbier wurde aber typischerweise anders und als minderwertigeres Produkt hergestellt.
