Außerhalb von Mexiko ist die Mariachi-Musik die bekannteste unter den vielen mexikanischen Musiktendenzen. Sie wurde 2011 von der UNESCO in die Repräsentative Liste des immateriellen Kulturerbes der Menschheit aufgenommen.
