Mittelmeerklima bezeichnet Makroklimate der Subtropen mit trockenen, heißen Sommern und regenreichen, milden Wintern und hohen Sonnenstundensummen. Dieses Klima wird auch als Winterregenklima der Westseiten bezeichnet. Namengebend ist das Mittelmeer, der Klimatypus findet sich aber auch auf allen anderen Kontinenten . Laut der Effektiven Klimaklassifikation nach Köppen und Geiger wird das Mittelmeerklima definiert durch eine jährliche Niederschlagssumme von über 400 mm mit einem Niederschlagsmaximum in den Sommermonaten von unter 40 mm und eine Jahresmitteltemperatur von über 14 Â°C.
