Zum Führen von Motorbooten ist in Deutschland bei einer Leistung über 11,03 kW an der Propellerwelle ein Führerschein erforderlich - bei Sportbooten in der Regel mindestens ein Sportbootführerschein. Auf dem Rhein und dem Bodensee wird bereits ab 5 PS ein Führerschein benötigt.
