Die Osteotomie bezeichnet ein in der Chirurgie angewandtes Operationsverfahren, bei dem ein oder mehrere Knochen gezielt durchtrennt werden, um beispielsweise Fehlstellungen wie unphysiologische Beinachsen oder Hüftfehlstellungen zu korrigieren. Entsprechend wird dann oft auch von einer Umstellungs-Osteotomie oder Korrekturosteotomie gesprochen. Der Osteotomie folgt dann in der Regel eine Osteosynthese, oft als Plattenosteosynthese ausgeführt, um die durchtrennten Knochenteile in der gewünschten Position wieder zu fixieren.
