Das Vorzeichen ist positiv, falls diese drei Vektoren in der angegebenen Reihenfolge ein Rechtssystem bilden; bilden sie ein Linkssystem, so ist es negativ. Liegen die drei Vektoren in einer Ebene, so ist ihr Spatprodukt Null.
