Unter dem Begriff Sport werden verschiedene Bewegungs-, Spiel- und Wettkampfformen zusammengefasst, die meist im Zusammenhang mit körperlichen Aktivitäten des Menschen stehen, ohne in erster Linie der Warenproduktion, kriegerischen Kampfhandlungen, dem Transport von Waren bzw. Gepäck oder der alleinigen Ortsveränderung zu dienen. Das Wort selbst wurde im 19. Jahrhundert vom englischen sport entlehnt, welches durch Prokope aus disport entstand und aus dem Altfranzösischen entlehnt ist.
