Der Temperaturgradient ist eine gerichtete physikalische Größe , die im Sinne eines mathematischen Gradienten an jedem Punkt eines Temperaturfelds beschreibt, in welcher Richtung die Temperatur dort am stärksten steigt und wie stark. Die international verwendete Einheit  seines Betrags ist Kelvin pro Meter . Der Temperaturgradient treibt die Wärmeleitung und kann Strömungen verursachen . Er spielt bei der Thermophorese und der Thermoosmose eine wichtige Rolle und ist eine der Ursachen für die Verwitterung.
