Varieté oder Varietee bzw. Varietétheater und variété < lat. varietas = Varietät) ist eine Bühne mit bunt wechselndem, unterhaltendem Programm für artistische, tänzerische, akrobatische und musikalische Vorstellungen. Ein Varietéprogramm besteht aus einer kleineren oder größeren Anzahl von Darbietungen, die für die gemeinsame Veranstaltung mosaikartig zusammengesetzt werden, wobei jede für sich eine künstlerisch geschlossene Einheit mit Anfang und Ende bildet. Im französischen und britischen Sprachgebiet sagte man zu diesen Veranstaltungen Music Hall, im US-amerikanischen hießen sie zumeist Vaudeville.
