Als Vernichtungslager bezeichnet man eine bestimmte Gruppe der deutschen Konzentrationslager, die in der Zeit des Nationalsozialismus von Organen des NS-Staats im deutsch besetzten Polen und in Weißrussland speziell für Massenmorde an europäischen Juden, Angehörigen der europäischen Roma-Minderheit sowie anderer Bevölkerungsgruppen errichtet wurden. Von ihrer Errichtung bis zu ihrer Beseitigung oder Befreiung im Zuge des Vorrückens der Roten Armee 194445 wurden in den großen Vernichtungslagern weit über drei Millionen Menschen durch Vergasung in Gaskammern industriell ermordet oder massenhaft erschossen. Neben den ebenfalls praktizierten Massenerschießungen in den von der deutschen Wehrmacht und verbündeten Staaten besetzten Gebieten geschah ein Großteil des Holocaust und Porajmos in den Vernichtungslagern.
