Bei reaktionsmechanistischer Betrachtung ist ein Zwischenprodukt ein Molekül, das in einer mehrstufigen Reaktion sowohl als Produkt eines Reaktionsschrittes, wie auch als Reaktant des darauf folgenden fungiert.
