Pinosylvin is a pre-infectious stilbenoid toxin , contrary to phytoalexins which are synthesized during infection. It is present in the heartwood of Pinaceae. It is a fungitoxin protecting the wood from fungal infection. It is also found in Gnetum cleistostachyum.
