Die dellenförmige Hautoberfläche erinnert an die Oberfläche einer Orange. Die Cellulite kommt fast ausschließlich bei Frauen vor, da Männer eine maskuline Struktur des Bindegewebes besitzen. Bei Ãœbergewicht oder schwachem Bindegewebe kann die Hauterscheinung schon in jungen Jahren auftreten, mit fortschreitendem Alter bekommen Cellulite in unterschiedlichem Ausmaß 80 bis 90 % der Frauen.
