Als Fahrmotoren, auch Traktionsmotoren, werden die Motoren bezeichnet, mit denen ein Radsatz eines Triebfahrzeugs angetrieben wird. Dies betrifft vor allem den Elektromotor für den Antrieb von Bahnfahrzeugen bzw. von Lokomotiven und Triebwagen. Seit der Etablierung elektronischer Frequenzumrichter im ausgehenden 20. Jahrhundert kommen unabhängig von der Ausgestaltung des Bahnstromsystems als Fahrmotoren überwiegend Drehstrom-Asynchronmaschinen zum Einsatz. Eng mit der Bauart des Fahrmotors verbunden ist die mechanische Kraftübertragung auf die zugehörigen Radsätze, der sogenannte Antrieb.
