Die Gabel ist ein am Fahrrad drehbar befestigtes Bauteil, welches das Vorderrad mit dem Rahmen verbindet; sie wird deswegen gelegentlich als Vordergabel oder Vorderradgabel bezeichnet. An den Gabelbeinen ist am unteren Ende eine Aufnahme für die Achse der Fahrradnabe angebracht, das vordere Ausfallende . Der Bereich, an dem die Gabelbeine zusammentreffen und mit dem Gabelschaft verbunden sind, wird als Gabelbrücke bezeichnet. Mittels eines Steuersatzes wird der Gabelschaft drehbar im Steuerrohr des Fahrradrahmens gelagert, welches bei den üblichen Fahrrädern einen Winkel von etwa 65 bis 75 Grad zur Waagrechten einnimmt.
