Luftgewehre sind Gewehre, die ein Geschoss durch die Ausdehnung von komprimiertem Gas antreiben. Im Unterschied zu Feuerwaffen wird das unter Druck stehende Gas nicht durch Verbrennen einer Treibladung erzeugt, sondern inner- oder außerhalb der Waffe mechanisch verdichtet. Auch Waffen, bei denen das Geschoss mit einem anderen Gas als Luft angetrieben wird, werden zu den Druckluftwaffen gezählt. Zur Bereitstellung des komprimierten Gases werden verschiedene Verfahren genutzt.
