Sowohl Bestands- als auch Erfolgskonten sind also Sachkonten. Der Begriff wird vor allem im Bereich der Kontokorrentbuchführung verwendet, innerhalb derer die Sachkonten Forderungen a. L. L. und Verbindlichkeiten a. L. L. in einem Nebenbuch in Personenkonten für jeden Geschäftspartner aufgegliedert werden und somit eine Abgrenzung zu den Konten des Hauptbuches notwendig ist.
