Ein Satellitenstaat oder Vasallenstaat ist eine Bezeichnung für einen kleineren Staat, der sich in einem Abhängigkeitsverhältnis zu einem größeren, insbesondere einer Großmacht, befindet. Häufig sind Satellitenstaaten nur formal unabhängig und werden politisch vom stärkeren Staat dominiert.
