Bei ihnen besteht das Fruchtfleisch nicht nur aus dem verdickten Fruchtblatt wie bei den echten Früchten, sondern aus anderen Pflanzenteilen wie dem Blütenboden oder der Blütenstandsachse, die sich beim Reifeprozess zu Fruchtfleisch verdicken.
