Seilbagger gehören zur Maschinengattung der Bagger und unterscheiden sich von anderen Maschinen dieser Kategorie durch die seilmechanische Kraftübertragung. Bei vielen Anwendungen wurden sie durch hydraulische Bagger abgelöst, für bestimmte Spezialaufgaben sind die Seilbagger jedoch nach wie vor unentbehrlich.
